Plant height is 12.5 cm, leaves basal and stem, stem leaves alternate, length 15 mm, width 3.5 mm, inflorescence scorpoid cyme with about 20 flowers, flower width 1.8 mm, lengt 4 mm. | |||||

A towering forget me not,tolerant of partial shade and full sun. height 107 cm., Leaves basal plus stem,stem alt, length 98 mm, width 14 mm. Flowers in a one sided raceme, flower width 7 mm, length 2.5 mm, petal 2 mm. Armed seeds are 8 mm. wide. |

Plant is 33 cm tall., leaves basal and stem,stem alternate with a distinct center vein, V shaped, length 38 mm, width 5.5 mm. Flowers are small and white with bluish cast , width 3-4 mm. |

Height is 28 cm, leaves stem alternate, lanceolate, length 50 mm, width 9 mm. Inflorescences arise from leaf axils, flower length 12 mm, width 5 mm. Mertensias often bring memories of cool confierous forests, mountain streams and misty waterfalls. This mertensia, in contrast, grows in drier settings with Gambels oak and Narrow Leaf Yucca. | |||||

Oreocarya virgata(wand) , Miners Candle, grows along the front range in the Colorado Rockies. The specimens here were growing on open, sunny, decomposed granite flats which deserve the name granite "deserts". | |||||

Slender Popcornflower, Plagiobothrys tenellus,growing on a sandy bench in Mosaic Canyon, Death Valley, 1,520 Feet, March 16, 2007.Not really happy with this identification, its just too tentative.This plant is very small, height 30mm, leaf length 8mm, leaf width about 1mm, flower width 1.5-2 mm. Plagiobothrys is from the Greek plagios ( sideways) and bothros (pit, scar), play-jee-oh-BOTH-rys, and tenellus small, delicate, tender, ten-ELL-us. |
