Aspen Sunflower growingmeadows at Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, Gothic, Colorado, 9,500 Feet, July 20, 2007. Height is 79 cm, leaves are basal and stem, basal length 150 mm, width 44 mm,petiole 95 mm. Lower stem leaves are opposie, upper are alternate, lower length137 mm, width 40 mm. Flower heads are 63 mm wide with 30 mm rays. Flower head length is 30 mm. The heads orient parallel to the ground.The meadow slopes to the West with good exposure to western sun. Nearby flora include helianthum hoopesi and cirsium scariosum. Above the meadow is a plant community dominated by Populus tremuloides.

One Flowered Sunflower, Helianthella uniflora growing in meadows at Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah, elevation 10,400 Feet, July 13, 2007. Plant height is 48 cm, leaves are basal and stem, stem opposie , length 9 cm w 24 mm. Fower width is 8 cm, ray length 29 mm, about 17 rays.
